Small but mighty!

Introduction

I admit it. At first glance, the Wrist Widget doesn’t really look like much of anything. It’s fairly small, and there’s really not a lot to it. The key point here is to never, EVER judge a book by its cover.

Ulnar wrist pain is quite common. To clarify, the “ulnar” side of your wrist is the pinky, or outer side. For this outside wrist pain, I’ve never used anything quite like the Wrist Widget- it works instantly and miraculously despite its small size and seemingly unimpressive design, which is why I needed to add this review to the site.

A cool thing about this product is how it was recommended to me by both my doctor and physiotherapist. It has a ton of support from the medical community because its benefits are backed up by SCIENTIFIC facts, instead of just a company hyping it up.

In fact, they claim that it has been clinically proven to reduce ulnar wrist pain and help those with instability. It doesn’t have any flashy branding or logo, and its official name is incredibly simple- “WristWidget”. It doesn’t do any of these things because it’s unnecessary. The Wrist Widget flat out works, and that’s all that matters.

Functionality

While the Wrist Widget looks somewhat flimsy, it helps a ton of issues for ulnar wrist pain. I should preface this by saying that I’m not a medical professional and any advice I give shouldn’t be taken as law, but I’m just explaining wrist issues the way they were explained to me.

The reason why I needed this wrist support, and why many others do, is because of an issue with your “triangular fibrocartilage”. Essentially, this is a structure of ligaments and tendons on the outside of your wrist that does practically everything. It acts as a stabilizer and support for the outside of your wrist, but it’s very prone to injury and strain.

If the outside of your wrist is in any sort of pain due to a strain that’s impeding your ability to lift heavy objects, rotate your wrist, or grip properly, the wrist widget will help you a lot.

Why I use the Wrist Widget

I was playing baseball in college when an inside pitch came in and jammed my wrist bad. Like I mean I couldn’t move it at all after the game. I went to the hospital and got x-rays which all came back negative.

So, I was diagnosed with a strain to the ligaments and tendons on the ulnar side of my wrist. They recommended rest, and maybe some tape. However, this really wasn’t gonna cut it as we still had half a season left and I REALLY needed to play.

So, I went to physiotherapy and she recommended the Wrist Widget. I’m not going to lie- when she first told me the price for this tiny piece of fabric I balked big time. So, they were really cool about it and let me try it out for the weekend with the option of returning it if I didn’t like it.

I really can’t stress enough how much it helped me. One of the coolest parts is that it’s really easy to tighten it as much as you need. Another cool thing is that it only takes 2 seconds to put on. You basically just wrap it around your wrist, loop it back through the hook and loop closure, and then pull it as tight as you could ever want before velcroing it in place.

Comfort and Fit

As you can probably tell from the pictures, the Wrist Widget is incredibly light weight. Seriously, if it wasn’t helping your wrist pain so much you wouldn’t even notice that you had it on because of its tiny weight of 28 grams. It’s also pretty comfortable.

If you’ve got horrendous wrist pain and you have to pull it insanely tight to get the wrist support you need, you might start to feel a bite after a while. I felt this when I went back to baseball after my ulnar wrist injury. I had to pull it so tight that it would dig in a bit- but without it I wouldn’t have been playing baseball at all, so it was 100% worth it. HOWEVER, if you have generalized wrist pain and need some extra relief and support, it won’t cause any discomfort at all.

In fact, when you’re just wearing it on a daily basis (which is pretty easy to do as its quite inconspicuous) its quite soft and comfortable with the added benefit of looking cool and working great.

Furthermore, it’s one size fits all. So, no need to measure or anything like that. Just buy, Velcro, and go.

Another great thing about it is that it never slips. Once you put the WristWidget on, it’s seriously anchored in place and it won’t move an inch.

For my fellow ulnar wrist pain sufferers, this is a godsend. There’s nothing worse than an inconsistent brace that it always on your mind because it’s moving and not working properly. You will never have that problem with the WristWidget. So, rejoice 😊

Also- it has some decent colors! You can go straight black (my personal fave), but there’s also tan, red, or blue.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve ever dealt with ulnar wrist pain, you know how annoying and debilitating it is. It’s incredibly hard to treat and its usually a nagging, reoccurring injury that is painful and frustrating. However, the Wrist Widget (which is a fairly recent invention) absolutely changes the game on all of this. Whether it’s for sports or just life in general, the Wrist Widget does its job and it does what it says it’s going to do in terms of treating your ulnar wrist pain and supporting that.

The Wrist Widget is extremely durable (I’ve had mine for 5 years) and it will help you.

Until next time!
